While Miami Beach boasts its share of famous eateries, some of its most remarkable restaurants are off the beaten path. These hidden gems serve up everything from authentic comfort food to innovative bites in unexpected spots. If you’re looking for something different, you’ve come to the right place.

Gao Miami Beach

6 Miami Beach Hidden Gems - Gao Miami Beach, Lobster Shack, Margot Bar and Bistro, Miami Beach restaurants, Orange Blossom, PaperFish Sushi Bar, Tequiztlan - December 2024

Located in South of Fifth, Gao Miami Beach elevates Vietnamese cuisine with a sophisticated twist. Its diverse menu blends traditional flavors with intricate presentation for a unique dining experience on South Beach.

Start with dim sum like the mushroom gyoza, crafted with quinoa and truffle, or the pork siu mai filled with juicy pork and shiitake mushrooms. Meat lovers can savor the sizzling beef satay, a rich combination of sliced beef, garlic, bell peppers, and crushed peanuts. Prefer seafood? Don’t miss out on the hor mok – cod fish steamed in a banana leaf flavored with coconut milk and more; it’s heaven on a plate.

Cap off your meal with a sweet treat: the matcha molten cake or the playful banana chocolate cigar – there is no wrong choice. The restaurant’s elegant ambiance makes Gao a perfect spot for special occasions or a night on the town; just be sure to make a reservation.

The Lobster Shack

Situated on Lincoln Road, Lobster Shack is a go-to spot for fresh, flavorful seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. Known for its iconic lobster rolls served warm or chilled, this spot offers a taste of New England right in the heart of Miami Beach.

Besides the beloved rolls, there’s plenty more to love. Other favorites include creamy clam chowder, the lobster tacos and a selection of stiff drinks that will have you hanging out for a while. The outdoor seating provides a great vantage point for people-watching on Lincoln Road, making it great for casual lunch or laid-back dinner. Whether you’re craving comfort food or coastal flavors, Lobster Shack delivers every time.

Margot Bar and Bistro

At Margot Bar and Bistro, the menu masterfully blends global influences with a dash of modern flair. Start your journey with the delicate hamachi crudo, featuring spicy aji amarillo and coconut, or opt for the earthy green falafel with labneh and sumac for a Middle Eastern twist. For something heartier, the hand-cut steak tartare pairs tender beef with house-made chips, while the creamy local burrata is a fresh, rich delight accompanied by heirloom tomatoes and aged balsamic.

Entrées at Margot range from the indulgent nduja spicy rigatoni, with creamy stracciatella and basil, to the perfectly cooked Faroe Island salmon, elevated by yellow curry and wild rice. There truly is something for everyone here, and guests can expect an equally diverse selection of drinks that range from inventive cocktails to natural wines. You can even get to-go cocktails!

Orange Blossom

Orange Blossom brings a fresh twist to New American cuisine with inventive dishes that pack a punch of flavor. This sleek hotspot fuses seasonal ingredients and bold creativity, serving up a great meal all day long.

So, where to start? Breakfast options abound, with items like omelets, Nutella French toast, smoked salmon plates, and banana bread. If brunch is more your thing, you’ll find tuna tartare, wagyu hot dogs, turkey burgers, and red velvet cake among the many selections. And for dinner, expect shrimp tempura, cajun ahi tuna steak and grilled lamb chops. With such a big menu, Orange Blossom is always a safe bet.

Paperfish Sushi

Hidden on the charming Española Way, Paperfish serves up Japanese fusion cuisine that combines artistry and big flavors. This stylish eatery boasts a menu full of creative sushi rolls, sashimi, and small plates that won’t break the bank.

Highlights include the rock shrimp tempura and wagyu steak tartare for appetizers; the salmon furai and dragon roll for sushi; and the crispy truffle fried rice and truffle scallops for entrees. Paperfish Sushi is also home of one of the best happy hours on the beach, discounting already affordable food and drinks. Open for lunch and dinner, it’s always a good time to visit.

Tequiztlan

Tucked away in Sunset Harbor, Tequitztlan is a hidden gem that offers a true taste of Mexico. This beautiful restaurant serves up delicious Mexican cuisine that will leave a lasting impression – and then some. The moment you step inside, you know you’re somewhere special.

Tequitztlan’s menu is a culinary journey through Mexico, featuring a bevy of offerings that are worthy of repeat visits. Start your meal with a refreshing margarita or a cold beer, and then dive into their mouthwatering appetizers, such as barbacoa quesadilla or their Mexican-style pizza.
