Sometimes, it’s nice to get away from your kids—we all need a break. If you’ve found a babysitter, make sure your “parent’s night out” is one to remember with a visit to one of these five great spots.
Café Americano Brickell
If you’ve found a babysitter, treat yourself to something nice at Brickell City Centre. Then, take a shopping break at Café Americano Brickell. The Latin-inspired eatery is the perfect spot to unwind with some hearty comfort food and spectacular cocktails.
Crispy calamari, homemade empanadas, baja chicken tacos and chimichurri skirt steak are just a few of the tasty options available on this extensive menu. Cocktail-wise, you can’t go wrong with an espresso martini or a basil cucumber margarita; try to visit during happy hour when you can to save a few bucks. Either way, the prices are reasonable for the area.
Paperfish Sushi Bar
Paperfish Sushi Bar is a hidden gem in Brickell—literally. Finding the entrance can be a little confusing, but once you step into the place, you’ll be happy you did.
The restaurant specializes in Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese fusion) cuisine, so don’t be surprised to see ceviches and tiraditos listed among all the tasty options. And tasty options are many: signature nigiris like the salmon aburi and maguro-foie will blow your mind, as will miso black cod and Thai rice. Brickell too far for you? There’s also a South Beach location!
RED South Beach
For a romantic night out without the little ones, look no further than South of Fifth’s iconic RED South Beach.
The beloved steakhouse is home to some of the best cuts in town as well as one of the largest steakhouse menus you’ll encounter here. Not only are there a ton of steaks, but there are also a ton of raw bar selections, salads, pasta dishes, chops, and seafood to be had. Whatever you order, a side of the four-cheese mac and cheese is a must.
Shingo
If budget isn’t a concern and you prefer a more intimate affair, check out Shingo in Coral Gables. The 14-seat omakase experience is best enjoyed blind, so we’ll keep this short to avoid spoilers.
Just know that there’s Michelin Star pedigree behind this place and that they take food very seriously. In other words, don’t be Miami late. And if you’re going to take photos of all the fish, make it fast since the dishes are best enjoyed immediately. Reservations are required.
Shingo is located at 112 Alhambra Circle, Coral Gables, FL 33134. For more information, visit their official website.
Toscana Divino
Italian food is always a good idea, and Toscana Divino features no shortage of Italian specialties and wine to enjoy. A quick note about the latter: This Brickell hotspot has one of the biggest wine bottle selections in the city — we’re talking dozens upon dozens of choices. In other words, definitely Uber over.
Regarding the food, you’ll find items like octopus puttanesca, fish ceviche, braised lamb shank and white sausage pappardelle among the many highlights at Toscana Divino. If you can’t make up your mind, consider the Florentine dinner, a 2-person platter consisting of Toscana specialties including a gigantic porterhouse steak.
