Where to Go When You Can’t Get Into Carbone

Primo's

We’ve all been there — trying to score a reservation at Carbone on Miami Beach feels like a sport in itself. But just because you can’t snag a primetime table at this Italian hotspot doesn’t mean your night has to be a bust. Miami has plenty of equally amazing restaurants where you can indulge in delicious Italian fare without the waitlist drama.

Basilico Ristorante

Basilico Ristorante offers a menu of Italian favorites with something for everyone. Expect to find classic appetizers like caprese salad, beef carpaccio, and prosciutto alongside a bevy of pasta options; there are so many that repeat visits are definitely a must. Some of the more popular selections include the gorgonzola and pear-stuffed ravioli, the rigatoni with pancetta, and the housemade gnocchi.

For your main course, choose from hefty options like the veal chop Milanese, Australian lamb chops, and prime flank steak. It should go without saying, but you can’t leave without trying the tiramisu.

Basilico Ristorante is located at 10405 NW 41st St, Miami, FL 33178. For more information, visit their official website

Ironside Pizza

For pizza lovers in the Ironside district, Ironside Pizza is a hidden treasure. This cozy spot specializes in wood-fired pizzas that are as authentic as they come. Whether you choose the classic margherita with fresh mozzarella and basil or the hearty speck gorgonzola with – you guessed it – speck and gorgonzola or something else altogether, the flavors are always spot on.

Add in the inviting outdoor space, and you’ve got a perfect pizza night destination. And yes, there are other items besides pies, including a few pastas, paninis, and salads. The best part? You won’t break the bank for a delicious meal.

Ironside Pizza is located at 7580 NE 4th Court, Miami, FL 33138. For more information, visit their official website

Luca Osteria

At Luca Osteria in Coral Gables, Italian cuisine is elevated with thoughtful touches. Begin your meal with the marinated olives, delicately seasoned with Calabrian oregano and fennel pollen, or the Sullivan Street focaccia, crisped to perfection and served with roasted garlic and olive oil. For a refreshing twist, the ‘cacio e pepe’ caesar reimagines the classic salad with a peppery kick and focaccia croutons.

Luca’s pastas are equally compelling. The short rib bolognese, paired with pappardelle, offers a rich and indulgent experience, while the pasta al limone, featuring mafaldine and fresh lemon, provides a delicate balance of creaminess and zest. Among the secondi, the herb-crusted halibut ‘al forno’ accompanied by tomato panzanella and Florida basil stands out with its brightness.

After all this, make sure to save room for the simple yet delicious vanilla panna cotta.

Luca Osteria is located at 116 Giralda Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134. For more information, visit their official website

Primo’s Italian

For a more traditional Italian experience, head to Primo’s Italian in Downtown Miami. This neighborhood hangout offers all the Italian classics in a cozy, unpretentious setting. From handmade pasta to mouth-watering pizzas, Primo’s covers all the bases when it comes to Italian comfort food.

Appetizer-wise, opt for the popular tuna tartar, which brings together fun flavors with fresh tuna, avocado, cucumber, and truffle cream, or go for the namesake all-beef meatballs, served with whipped ricotta. Their calamari and zucchini is a crispy favorite, perfect for sharing with a group.

For a comforting pasta dish, the lasagna bolognese is a standout with layers of meat, béchamel, and melted mozzarella. If you’re craving seafood, their linguine seafood and seafood risotto are beloved for good reason. And for pizza lovers, their eponymous pie combines Tuscan sausage, caramelized onion, fresh ricotta, and mozzarella for a savory delight.

RED South Beach

While RED South Beach is famous for its prime cuts and exquisite seafood, it also boasts a delicious array of Italian dishes that always hit the spot. Expect the elegance of a steakhouse with classic Italian comfort when you visit this South of Fifth gem.

We’re big fans of their bolognese with pappardelle, a classic dish with lots of depth and flavor that’s ideal for those who love more traditional fare. For seafood lovers, the lobster fra diavolo is an indulgent choice, featuring succulent lobster paired with perfectly cooked pasta. Another standout is the linguini and clams; you honestly can’t go wrong with anything here. Pair your dish of choice with one of their just-as-impressive cocktails; their martinis never disappoint.
