Tuesday, September 24: Alvaro Perez Miranda Cooks His Favorite Italian Dishes at Hiyakawa

Hiyakawa has already earned its place as Miami’s go-to for soulful, authentic Japanese omakase, and it’s no secret why. At the helm is Alvaro Perez Miranda, a true visionary and Goodwill Ambassador of Japanese Cuisine. His passion and mastery shine through in every dish, making Hiyakawa a standout in Miami’s dining scene. But what many don’t realize is that before building his Japanese restaurant empire, Perez Miranda spent 15 years immersed in Italian cuisine right in the heart of Japan.

On Tuesday, September 24, Perez Miranda will take a culinary detour from the Japanese cuisine served at Hiyakawa to revisit his love for Italian food, preparing some of his personal favorites. For one night only, Hiyakawa transforms into an Italian dining destination where guests can indulge in his carefully crafted dishes, blending the rich flavors of Italy with the chef’s impeccable technique. Seats are limited, and this is truly an event you don’t want to miss.

Wednesday, September 25: National Lobster Day at the Lobster Shack

Get ready to dive into pure lobster bliss this National Lobster Day on Wednesday, September 25. If there’s one place in Miami where the mighty crustacean reigns supreme, it’s the Lobster Shack. With “lobster” in its name, you can bet this spot delivers the goods and then some.

Whether you’re craving the creamy richness of lobster bisque or the indulgence of lobster mac and cheese, this shack has it all. Fancy something fresh? Their lobster salad hits the spot. Or maybe you’re in the mood for something outside the classics, like a lobster taco or even a lobster cocktail. And, of course, for the ultimate lobster experience, their whole lobsters are boiled to perfection, just waiting for you to shuck and savor. The real stars of the show, however, are the legendary lobster rolls, overflowing with buttery lobster claws, served warm and ready to melt in your mouth. Just thinking about it makes us drool.

Thursday, September 26: Happy Hour at MODE

This Thirsty Thursday, join us at MODE, Downtown Miami’s hottest new Happy Hour destination. Here, cocktails are crafted to perfection, like the fan-favorite Tropical Haze, featuring coconut fat-washed Sia Scotch, coconut water, and a house bier blend, or the bold and zesty Miami Spice, a blend of smoky Union Mezcal, sweet apricot liqueur, fresh lemon, and a fiery spicy tincture, finished with bitters and a spicy mango cube. As you sip, let the live music carry you away, setting the perfect vibe for dancing under the shimmering disco ball. What makes MODE truly special is its immersive audio journey during Happy Hour, blending rhythmic global beats with electrifying jazz.

From Thursday to Saturday, 7 to 9 p.m., MODE is our go-to for unbeatable drink deals. Indulge in $5 beers, sip on $7 wines, enjoy $8 house spirits, or treat yourself to a $10 craft cocktail. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur, a music lover, or just looking for a fun night out, MODE is the place to be.

MODE is located at 2 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130. For more information, visit their official website.

Saturday, September 28: Weekend Getaway at Costa Med

Costa Med Bistro

A weekend escape out in Key Biscayne always feels like a holiday, especially if Costa Med is involved. And trust us, it always is. This gem of a bistro serves Mediterranean food like you won’t believe, featuring fresh catch of the day and farm-fresh proteins like incredible lamb, veal, and beef.

We love starting our culinary journey with the Greek-style grilled octopus—so tender it melts in your mouth and makes you shed tears of joy. The homemade pastas are another treat that deserves words of praise of their own. The aragosta fra diavolo, homemade black linguini with lobster chunks served in a spicy tomato sauce, will have you writing love letters. If you still have room get the jumbo wild-caught fresh seared scallops, served over a creamy pumpkin puree with apricot and Iberic ham chutney. Out of this world. Costa Med also boasts one of the best vino selections in South Florida, so a pairing is definitely in order.
