The Best New Restaurants in Miami [April 2024]

What’s better than spring’s arrival? The newest culinary openings in South Florida! Enjoy both this month as we uncover five of the area’s latest concepts gracing Miami’s neighborhoods. From a captivating seafood-centric gem inspired by the allure of the Iberian coast to a charming Greek hangout exuding warmth and flavor, these must-visit restaurants define Miami’s latest culinary landscape.

Sereia

Despite its relatively quiet debut, Sereia has experienced booming success since arriving in Coconut Grove. This seafood-centric restaurant marks a significant addition to Miami’s culinary scene, courtesy of Henrique Sá Pessoa, Portugal’s renowned chef celebrated for his two-Michelin-starred restaurant Alma and Sault Hospitality, co-founded by Miami’s hospitality veterans Jourdan Binder, Sven Vogtland, and Alan Drummond. The 125-seat restaurant boasts stunning interiors that pay homage to the ocean and its surroundings. Curated furniture and rich blue and green fabrics create an ambiance reminiscent of the Iberian coasts—sophisticated and grounded in nature. But most notable is the quality of service and food that has guests in awe and wanting to book another reservation ASAP.

Even the Portuguese corn and rye bread warmed on hot stones and served with olive oil and an out-of-this-world housemade smoked butter was so good you’ll be asking for additional rounds. For mains, there’s arroz de pato (ducked rice with smoked bacon, chorizo, and parsley aioli) and vieiras marinadas (marinated scallops with Sereia royal caviar), among other creative dishes. A crudo bar offers guests an immersive experience where chefs guide them through a meticulously crafted tasting menu. No meal is complete without dessert, and Sereia has a decadent Pão de Ló with sea salt, olive oil, caviar, and nectarine paired with elderflower sorbet and Champagne.

Sereia is located at 3540 Main Highway, Miami, FL 33133. For more information, please visit their official website

One K Miami

While plenty of new restaurants open daily here in Miami, only a few make you think wow from the first bite. During your next visit, you’ll surely experience that eye-opening moment at One K Miami in Brickell. Located inside the historic Miami Fire Station No. 4, the new elevated restaurant specializes in international cuisine, sophisticated cocktails, and live entertainment. Bright dishes infused with spices and textures are huge on the menu, thanks to chef Aleric Constantin. Think: tuna tar-tacos made with green fruit slaw, charred pineapple, citrus coffee spice, and avocado mousse and tropical ceviche made with avocado leche de tigre, passion fruit gastrique, and citrus crumb. A raw bar selection abounds with East or West Coast oysters and local Florida stone crab served with dijonaise and lemon. We’re also huge fans of the Wagyu ragu rigatoni, featuring Mishima Wagyu oxtail, preserved lemon, and a generous amount of shaved Parmesan that blankets the pasta like fresh snow. The best part? Next door sits the sister concept, One K Room, a moody, hidden speakeasy offering exclusive DJ sets, tantalizing libations, and exciting programming from Thursday to Sunday.

One K Miami is located at 1000 S. Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130. For more information, please visit their official website

Avenue 31 Café

Following a day of exploration at Bal Harbour Shops, Avenue 31 Café beckons as a sanctuary of culinary delight. Paying homage to the renowned Monte Carlo restaurant at 31 Avenue Princesse Grace in Monaco, this restaurant seamlessly blends the allure of an all-day café with the refined experience of a full-service restaurant. The enticing aroma of freshly baked croissants and the rich fragrance of coffee sets the stage for an exceptional dining journey. The menu boasts a diverse range of options, from refreshing salads to hearty pastas and the enticing Pinsa Romana, a gourmet Roman-style pizza. Some favorites include the Italian omelet with prosciutto cotto and stracchino cheese, tagliatelle “verde” bolognese with veal and mushroom, and tuna tartare with crispy tempura and soy truffle. Pair it with a bottle of wine, and you’ll be feeling you’re dining at a charming cafe abroad.

Avenue 31 Café is located at 9700 Collins Ave. Second Level, Bal Harbour, FL 33154. For more information, please visit their official website

Salty Flame

Steakhouses are often associated with special occasions or indulgent weekly treats. However, Salty Flame challenges this notion by positioning itself as a neighborhood haunt where patrons can relish fine dining multiple times a week without emptying their pockets. The brainchild of V&E Hospitality Group, this modern steak bar infused with Asian influence has set up shop on Brickell Avenue, offering lunch and dinner services, plus daily happy hours. Delight in a selection of premium cuts, including thinly sliced filet mignon, rib eye, prime cowboy ribeye, and the coveted Japanese A-5 Wagyu striploin served alongside stir-fried milk bok choy or kimchi truffle fries. For more of an Asian infusion, dive into the delicate flavors of steamed striped bass enveloped in aromatic Shaoxing broth, adorned with scallions, ginger, cilantro, and a touch of fresno chili, or indulge in the green tempura roll—an intricately crafted delight featuring soy paper, kani krab salad, asparagus, avocado, spinach, wasabi tempura flakes, yuzu juice, a drizzle of white truffle oil, and a sprinkle of micro cilantro.

Salty Flame is located at 1414 Brickell Ave., Miami, FL 33131. For more information, please visit their official website

Bakaló Mykonos

Bakaló Mykonos, a beloved Greek dining spot popular among A-listers in Mykonos since 2010, has recently opened its doors in the U.S. with a location on South Beach. If you’re craving food from Mykonos but can’t jetset there anytime soon, you’ll be right at home. Inside, you’ll find an open kitchen where executive chef Giovanni Sandri works his magic, giving diners a front-row view of the culinary action. The interior design takes cues from the cozy and nostalgic ambiance of traditional Greek bistros, or “Bakalotavernes,” that used to line the bustling harbors of Greek cities paired with original posters from the 1950s and 1960s sourced from Athens’ vibrant flea markets. Simple, fresh, and classic Greek dishes like seabass carpaccio and Mediterranean branzino are on the menu, along with remixes like spinach pie salad—a blend of crispy filo dough, fresh spinach, creamy feta, and lemon tahini, topped with sesame seeds. Save room for the light and airy Bakaló Bougatsa, made with crispy pastry pillows filled with a velvety vanilla custard, and crowned by a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Bakaló Mykonos is located at 959 West Ave., Ste. 3, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For more information, please visit their official website
