Amid Miami’s scorching summertime heat, there are still plenty of enjoyable experiences to savor in the city. This is a great time to take advantage of the snowbirds’ extended absence and explore some new culinary hotspots before they become crowded.
From new Indian delights to a food hall with an array of vendors, here’s what’s not to miss this month in Miami.
New culinary concepts at the Miami Design District come aplenty. One to add to the list is Tablé by Antonio Bachour, an all-day, modern French brasserie. The celebrated pastry chef behind other popular haunts in South Florida has once again hit a home run with his all-day menu featuring Miami and Lebanese nuances.
While you can stop by for breakfast and lunch, we recommend dinner service to enjoy the full Tablé experience. Order the fried artichokes genoise with pistachio aioli and serrano chile for the table, or split the lamb meatballs with herb labneh and mint oil. The entrees range from classic Tablé steak frites featuring a Prime New York strip to heartier plates, like Tablé Burger with gruyere cheese and an onion jam.
And, of course, save room to indulge in one of Bachour’s sweet treats. Everything on the dessert menu is drool-worthy — the hard part will be deciding which to order. You can also choose from a carryout selection of freshly made croissants, macarons, petit fours, and more.
Tablé by Antonio Bachour is located in the Miami Design District at 180 NE 40th St., Miami, FL 33137. For more information, please visit their official website.
This Brickell-based food hall is home to six new culinary vendors, all nestled in a three-story space. Upon arrival, choose your seat inside the cozy and modern digs and order from a QR code system via your mobile device, so you won’t have to spend time waiting in lines to get all your food.
Okeydokey’s six kitchens range from fast-casual and full-service experiences, including Coffee Break, a bakery and deli offering everything from avocado toasts to croissant sandwiches, and an array of coffee, teas, and pastries; Yoso Ramen is home to poke bowls, bao buns, and hot and savory ramen; MAC (Modern Asian Cuisine) serves up inventive sushi rolls and flavorful plates, like Kung Pao cauliflower and grilled filet mignon; Little Bird is a chicken rotisserie, with varying options, from sticky pork ribs to queso croquetas; Dal Plin is an Italian-lovers dream and boasts flavorful handmade pasta, pizzas, and Italian-American favorites; and Jaffa is known for Mediterranean delights, such as pita sandwiches, falafel, and shawarma platters. An outdoor patio is set to debut soon, making this one spot not to miss.
Okeydokey Miami is located at 268 SW 8th St., Miami, FL 33130. For more information, please visit their official website.
When news began spreading that The Henry was coming to town, we knew it would be a hit. The restaurant lives up to its hype with its quintessential locale in the heart of Brickell City Center. It’s chic, cozy, and has all the right vibes, no matter the time of day.
Some must-try dishes on the menu include spicy tuna and crispy rice with Fresno chile, cilantro, and tamari; the braised short rib with bourbon caramel, roasted mushroom, and “smashed” potatoes; and the lobster truffle tagliatelle, made with Romano cheese, truffle butter, Italian herbs, and toasted bread crumbs. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention ordering the warm croissant bread pudding paired with caramel ice cream. It’s to die for and worth saving room for. Henry’s is sure to become a restaurant you add to your weekly rotation.
The Henry is located at Brickell City Center at 701 S. Miami Ave., Ste. 131-B, Miami, FL 33131. For more information, please visit their official website.
Finding quality Indian cuisine in Miami can sometimes fall flat, but the new Rishtedar outpost in Wynwood makes up for the disappointment. Step inside a world beaming with Indian culture, from vibrantly painted walls, hanging lanterns, and a wait staff dressed in traditional garments. There’s even live entertainment on certain days of the month. Stop by on August 15 to celebrate Indian Independence Day featuring a Bollywood dancer and Mehndi experience.
You’ll find Indian favorites on the menu, like butter chicken and samosas (triangular-shaped cumin pastry stuffed with potatoes, vegetables, and Indian spices), but use this opportunity to try some not-so-mainstream favorites. A few recommendations include the Johar e Motia (fresh mushrooms in a white sauce), the grilled lamb marinated with herbs, and of course, naan to enjoy with your meal.
Once you’ve enjoyed dessert, experience a traditional ceremony when the server pours cinnamon and cardamom water over your hands and into a bowl. It’s the perfect ending to a dinner steeped in tradition.
Rishtedar is located at 232 NW 24th St., Miami, FL 33127. For more information, please visit their official website.
If you’ve been to Tanuki before, you likely visited its original location on Miami Beach’s Alton Road. Now, with a second locale at River Landing, you’ll always have easy access to this Asian fusion gem. The restaurant offers a delectable blend of Japanese, Chinese, and various Asian cuisines, ensuring a diverse culinary experience.
Curious about the name? Tanuki is inspired by the magical raccoon-fox known for shape-shifting and promoting generosity and cheerfulness among people. Tanuki figures can be found all over Japan, particularly in restaurants, where they invite customers to enjoy life through food and drink.
Don’t miss Tanuki’s enticing happy hour, available Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Savor $8 cocktails, with The Violet Geisha being a top recommendation, along with discounted bites like glazed pork skewers, tuna crispy rice, and dynamite shrimp. As for dinner, the options are abundant, ranging from omakase and sushi to wok and grill specialties, not to mention the tempting Peking duck, available in half or full portions.
Tanuki River Langing is located at 1420 NW N. River Drive, Miami, FL 33125. For more information, please visit their official website.
