Stepping into KYU post-renovation feels like witnessing a restaurant’s triumphant second act, proving that some things are indeed better the second time around. Pronounced like the letter “Q,” this Wynwood restaurant recently celebrated its grand reopening and, dare we say, is better than before. New interiors and a cozy vibe set the scene for an unforgettable culinary journey led by chef Christopher Arellanes. You’ll rediscover some old favorites, like the roasted cauliflower with goat cheese adorned in a shishito-herb vinaigrette, paired with classic cocktails such as the She-So Spicy, a delightful twist on the spicy shiso sour. Another crowd-pleaser is the sweet yet tangy Pink Puppy, reminiscent of a refreshing lychee martini. If you want real heat, try the mezcal and charred shishito–infused Gorilla Water, which will make you think you, too, can blow fire from your mouth.

A fusion of Korean and Japanese with barbecue, the food at KYU ranges from snackable bites to larger plates ideal for sharing. A few favorites include Wagyu tartare with Parker House rolls, the stone pot Thai fried rice tossed with fresh King crab, Korean fried chicken with chili butter and braised spinach, and, of course, beef short ribs with a sesame crust. Leave some room for the sinfully delicious four-layer coconut cake topped with a scoop of coconut ice cream. If you didn’t know about this irresistible treat before, you certainly do now.

KYU Miami is located at 251 NW 25th St., Miami, FL 33127. For more information, please visit their official website

Edan Bistro

It’s hard not to be charmed by the young Michelin-vet chef Aitor Garate Berasaluze. He comes from popular hotspots, including LUR at South Beach Food Hall (formerly TimeOut Market Miami) and Leku at the Rubell Museum. He’s now brought his culinary magic to Edan Bistro in North Miami Beach, offering a seasonal menu that showcases the vibrant flavors and specialty items that capture the essence of Basque Country. Dive into the region’s distinctive gastronomy through a European-style Spanish brunch, an all-day à la carte selection, or our recommendation: a meticulously curated eight-course tasting menu.

This hidden culinary gem is a must-visit, thanks to its cozy bistro vibe, where each dish surpasses the last in both presentation and flavor.  Not to mention chef Berasaluze makes rounds at every table to ensure everyone is well taken care of. Menu options change throughout the year, but you’ll find flavors like mushroom croquetas with a black garlic emulsion and smoked shiitake, grilled duck breast with mustard and micro greens, and potatoes and egg salad with prawns in chipotle mayo. The true showstopper that garners gasps of delight from neighboring tables is the decadent basque cheesecake. Prepare yourself for a creamy center that flows onto your plate and sends your taste buds into a flavor frenzy.

Edan Bistro is located at 650 NE 125th St., North Miami, FL 33161. For more information, please visit their official website

Maman

We love a good cafe like the next person, and Wynwood certainly has nailed it with Maman. Meaning “Mom” in French, this cozy spot, nestled on the ground floor of Sentral Wynwood, exudes chic Parisian vibes with its blue floral motifs, lush greenery, and a delectable array of pastries, salads, and sandwiches. Beyond its cafe offerings, Maman is also a lifestyle brand known for cookbooks and home items, plus events. Recently, the cafe hosted a naked cake workshop where guests could decorate a cake and bring it home. Talk about a perfect Girl’s Night Out. The sweetness doesn’t stop there; the cafe plans to roll out additional outposts in Coral Gables and West Palm Beach.

Maman is located at 69 NW 26th St., Miami, FL 33127. For more information, please visit their official website

The Alley Pizzeria

For all you die-hard fans of The Alley, get ready to fall in love all over again. This trattoria-style pizzeria, led by the acclaimed chef Laurent Touroundel, is tucked within the Betsy Hotel and finally reopened its doors after closing in 2020. Indulge in handcrafted pizzas like shrimp scampi and quattro formaggi, delightful charcuterie boards, and a dessert that rivals soft-serve ice cream—a tantalizing blend of vanilla and mushroom popcorn drizzled with caramel. Whether you opt for the cozy indoor dining or the charming outdoor space with a view of the iconic egg-shaped sculpture, The Orb, you’re in for a treat. For those on the move, don’t miss out on the Ventanita for a quick cafecito fix.

The Alley Pizzeria is located at 1433 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139. For more information, please visit their official website.

Yann Couvreur Café

Transport yourself to a stunning French café right in the heart of Wynwood with the grand opening of Yann Couvreur Café. Led by renowned French pastry chef Yann Couvreur, this namesake café treats guests to luxurious yet accessible creations for breakfast, lunch, and brunch. Serving as the U.S. flagship, this café joins 17 other locations worldwide in cities like Paris, Dubai, and Doha. But gorgeous pastries are just the start. Thanks to daytime dining, you can explore seasonal and local ingredients in dishes like the iconic tartine salmon featuring Appalachian smoked salmon, lemon cream cheese, and Superiors Farms local microgreens placed atop toasted multigrain sourdough, caramelized French toast, and chef Couvreur’s favorite, the Oeuf à la Coque—two soft boiled eggs served in the shell alongside finger brioche toast and topped with Petrossian caviar. The desserts are equally impressive, and our recommendation is the mille feuilles tableside experience, which showcases the chef’s unique take on the pastry with light, flaky layers of caramelized pastry dough and a blue vanilla pastry cream.

Yann Couvreur Café is located at 2243 NW Second Ave., Miami, FL 33127. For more information, please visit their official website
