The Monthly Dish September 2026: White Truffle Season Kickoffs, Poolside Pop-Ups, Chef Sessions and More

Tracy Block

While we’re still out on our Miami Spice tour all month, making room is a must for everything else in store: a sweet Jewish New Year treat, the return of an OG Labor Day Weekend pop-up, a rockin’ Wynwood debut and a famed Miami chef’s return to the kitchen—not to mention the launch of a sexy $1,250 steak. Buckle up, folks. This month is ready to take you on a wild Magic City ride.

Splurge on Giselle Miami’s New Menu

If you’re a steak aficionado, Downtown‘s Giselle Miami is rolling out the rare-hued carpet for you. Enter, drum roll, please: the over-the-top, show-stopping 72-ounce A5 wagyu tomahawk ribeye ringing up at $1,250 per steak (yes, you heard us right). Flown in from Kagoshima, Japan, only 16 of these bad boys are up for grabs in the U.S. each month, and Giselle’s locked four. Grab your top four to six carnivorous besties and have a time. Or get rowdy (and a little naughty) with the new reverse cowgirl ribeye and splurge on the prime ribeye cheesesteak. For seafoodies, try the Giselle volcano roll (king crab makes a cameo), pop a few Chilean sea bass gyozas, or dig into the prawn Milanese.

Available starting Tuesday, September 1. Prices vary.

Giselle Miami is located at 15 NE 11th St., Miami, FL 33132. For more information, visit the official website.

Chef Michael Schwartz Is Genuinely Back In Session

If you’ve missed Chef Michael Schwartz’s cooking, you have four chances to catch him back in action. Rejoining the kitchen at his flagship Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in the Design District, Schwartz plans to host intimate “In Session” dinners at the Chef’s Table, where 10 diners have a front-row ticket to his kitchen artistry. Each session will feature a seven-course meal prepared around a different destination’s flavors and ingredients. Lebanon (September 8) will showcase dishes made with warm spices, chiles, yogurt, herbs and preserved lemon; India (September 22) will get even spicier, bringing the heat through tandoor and live-fire cooking; Georgia (October 6) will lean into walnuts, herbs and pomegranate; and Mexico (October 27) will draw inspo from Oaxaca, the Yucatán and beyond.

Tuesday, September 8 through Tuesday, October 27, with two seatings at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. each night. Dinner costs $200 per guest and includes a welcome cocktail and wine pairings. Commit to all four dinners and receive 10% off the series.
