Over the years of running Dish Miami, one of the questions I hear most often is: “Where do you go for…?” Sometimes it’s yoga, sometimes a facial, sometimes even a doctor or dentist. And while I’ve always loved sharing my personal favorites, it made me realize something: Miami doesn’t have one centralized, trusted insider source for these kinds of recommendations – something like we’ve built for restaurants.
So with that said, a new iteration of Dish is born. Just like with dining, our goal is to shine a light on small, local businesses that truly stand out—places where you’ll be welcomed, taken care of, and leave feeling just a little bit better than when you walked in. I wrote the following piece with the intention of sharing some of my favorite businesses, ones that are on my own rotation. And from now on, we’ll be dishing out the 411 on all kinds of gems—new and established—from skincare and spas, to shops and salons, and beyond.

My Miami Rotation

A converted warehouse provides soaring ceilings and soft natural light, and when you enter the space, there is an undeniable sense of calm. Fragrant incense smoke dances in the sunlight and shelves of literature, candles, jewelry, and mala beads beckon you to browse on your way to the shala. Their Ashtanga Mysore program is the heartbeat of the studio, but other options like Wholesome Training exist for a little more power. For me, it’s a giant playground with an undeniable sense of community, and the perfect start to my day.

I take my skincare seriously, but some things are best left to the pros 😉 For those treatments that fall under “maintenance,” I trust Skincare by Amy Peterson. Just one flight up from Amy at 16th and Lennox, is Ateena Beauty Lab, and I don’t call it a nail spa lightly—it’s easily the most beautiful one I’ve ever stepped into. The second you walk through the door, you’re transported to another world. Think soft lighting, serene interiors, and an atmosphere that whispers, “stay a while.” But make no mistake: the indulgent setting doesn’t overshadow the quality. The technicians are among the most skilled in Miami, and everything is done with clean, non-toxic products. It’s luxury with integrity, and it leaves you feeling pampered like royalty while knowing your nails are getting the healthiest care possible.

Sean Donaldson
Just across Lincoln Road sits Sean Donaldson Hair, one of Miami’s true mainstays. With more than ten years at this location, it’s fair to call them one of the OG salons in the city. What I love is that it never feels tired—Sean Donaldson has managed to stay fresh, stylish, and welcoming, all while keeping prices surprisingly reasonable. The stylists and colorists here are some of the best in Miami, which explains why it’s the go-to spot for locals who know. It’s that perfect blend of consistency and creativity that keeps me (and plenty of others) coming back.

A Treat from pupper crust
And then there’s pupper crust, because let’s face it: my dogs deserve their own rotation. These healthy dog treats are made with real ingredients, and what’s better, is that they are delivered to my door every month. All of the treats are deeply vetted for quality, and purity, but more importantly, my pups have never met a pupper crust treat they don’t devour. We make a little ceremony around the monthly unboxing, just like I wind down my own day with an evening Auria Blend, they wind down with a pupper crust treat. Balance all around.
