5 Stellar Spots for Comfort Food in Miami

Miami is a melting pot of flavors, and its comfort food reflects that beautiful diversity. From hearty Southern food to Italian delights, the city offers a culinary journey of comfort from all over. Here are some of our favorite comfort food finds across South Florida:

Apocalypse BBQ

If meaty, smoky goodness equals comfort in your world, Apocalypse BBQ is your holy grail. These barbecue masters take low-and-slow cooking seriously, delivering delicious brisket, pulled pork that sings with flavor, and oh-so-tender ribs. Don’t forget to order a side of their gooey mac n’ cheese and a chocolate chip cookie while you’re here.

Apocalypse BBQ is located at 9980 SW 104th Street, Miami, FL 33176. For more information, visit their official website

CJ’s Crab Shack

Nothing screams comfort like getting messy with a massive platter of seafood. CJ’s Crab Shack brings the spirit of old-school crab shacks straight to Miami. While crab is the star of the show, there are plenty of other seafood favorites to be had, like oysters, scallops, and fried shrimp. The fact that the place is located on Ocean Drive is the icing on the cake: You’re basically getting dinner AND a show.

Ironside Pizza

Sometimes, the answer to all life’s problems is pizza. Ironside Pizza serves up some of the city’s finest pies. Their traditional margherita is a must-try, whether it’s your first or tenth time here. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for one of their specialty pizzas with unique topping combinations; the Indiavolata, with its cured sopressata and Calabrian chili pepper, is perfect if you like spicy. Besides pizza, the restaurant also has pastas and a few other specialties—all of which are worth a look.

Root and Bone

Root & Bone brings the flavors of the American South to South Miami with a modern twist. Their crispy fried chicken and waffles is a brunch classic done right, while their shrimp and grits deliver big on creamy, cheesy goodness. No matter the time of day you visit, you’re in for a treat. For dessert, their warm and gooey chocolate skillet brownie is a winner and one that unlocks some of the best childhood memories.

Root & Bone is located at 5958 S Dixie Highway, South Miami, FL 33143. For more information, visit their official website

SoCal Cantina

For those days when you crave laid-back comfort with a Southern California twist, SoCal Cantina is your spot. Their fish tacos (Surf Tacos) are a winner with lightly fried fish and a cheese blend that’s a bite of heaven. Another favorite: the San Diego, with its mix of carnitas and cotija cheese. These are simple tacos that pack a ton of flavor, and they’re cheap. Pair them with a side of their esquites (roasted corn off the cob) and a refreshing margarita for a SoCal-inspired feast right here in the 305.

SoCal Cantina is located at 1000 South Miami Avenue, Miami, FL 33130. For more information, visit their official website
