The Best Sushi in Wynwood

From sleek and modern interiors to the freshest ocean offerings meticulously crafted by skilled sushi chefs, each Wynwood sushi bar invites you to embark on a journey of flavor and elegance.

Wynwood’s sushi scene is a fusion of tradition and innovation, promising an unforgettable dining experience that caters to both the purist and the adventurous palate. Read on to find your ideal nigiri bite or omakase experience:

B-Side by Itamae

Get ready for a journey that transcends boundaries and tantalizes taste buds at B-Side by Itamae, a true gem for food enthusiasts to indulge in an extraordinary fusion of flavors (otherwise known as Nikkei cuisine) where the precision of Japanese culinary techniques intertwines with the distinct and vibrant tastes of Peru.

B-Side has secured its spot inside the haven that is—1800 Lucky Food Hall in the heart of Wynwood, where gastronomic excellence and cultural fusion seamlessly blend. Step inside this intimate enclave, and you will find a unique ambiance that mirrors the soulful union of these two rich culinary traditions

The seafood bowls are so fresh and delicious; it’s hard to pick a favorite, but the tuna and salmon bowl is definitely recommended. The ceviches are equally as exquisite—a perfect example of the harmonious marriage between culinary cultures, which read like a love letter to the discerning palate.

From the restaurant’s sleek and modern design to the chef’s perfection to every detail, it is clear that a lot of love and thought has gone into B-Side setting the precedent for an unparalleled dining experience.

B-Side by Itamae is located at 143 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website

Hiden

Hiden. Yes, it’s in the name. This is a dining experience shrouded in mystery and culinary excellence. Unlike the name, this Japanese omakase sanctuary takes center stage.

It is tucked away in the heart of this vibrant Miami neighborhood, but we promise it’s worth every step and every penny.

Hiden is the brainchild of extremely skilled chefs who have mastered the art of omakase, a tradition that invites guests to surrender their taste buds to the expertise of the chefs, who present a procession of their most memorable, majestic dishes. Each dish is a carefully curated masterpiece, so exotic and unique that it is impossible to pick a favorite.

The ambiance at Hiden is like no other. The contrast of having to pass through a rather unattractive-looking taco stand—only then to be met by the minimalist decor, intimate seating, and hushed ambiance of the chefs at work, will leave you with an unforgettably immersive and enchanting experience. The service is excellent, the food is exquisite.

The delicate sashimi slices and expertly crafted nigiri might just make for some of the most amazing omakase experiences of flavors, textures, and culinary finesse. Make sure that you reserve in advance because Hiden is purposefully designed to be secretive and seat few, those who really want to seek this hidden treasure.

Hiden is located at 313 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website

Hiyakawa

Upscale sushi dining in Wynwood is practically synonymous with Hiyakawa. The rhapsodic nook caters to no more than 50 people daily, so we recommend making it a party of two and grabbing a seat at the center stage — the sushi bar behind which all the magic will unfold right before your eyes. Go for the omakase and allow yourself to be catered for in the best traditions of Japanese hospitality.

If you choose to go the a-la-carte route, the menu is always brimming with the freshest catch flown in straight from Tokyo’s Toyosu Fish Market.

Japanese sea scallop, sea eel, and fatty tuna will all graciously make their way onto your plate before they effortlessly melt in your mouth. All that’s left is to choose your bottle of sake and personal sake cups for the evening — Hiyakawa is well-known for its extensive knowledge of the rice-based alcoholic beverage.

Hiyakawa is located at 2700 N Miami Ave #5, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website

Omakai Sushi

Omakai Sushi, the Miami sushi chain, has raised the roof with their affordable omakase options ensuring that every sushi-loving gourmand gets a taste of top-notch sushi without breaking the bank.

The “leave it up to us” (a direct translation of “omakase”) Omakai experience offers several tiers of curated dining experiences starting as little as $26 and going up to $95 for the top tier Omakai Experience. There’s even a Vegan Oma for the plant-based patrons taking this sushi bar a step above all others.

If you’re not into getting a curated experience this day or that, no fret because they do offer an a la carte menu. You might want to get an order or two of some specialty nigiri like the toro truffle, unagi foie gras, or wagyu tartar with pear and quail egg.

Side note, Happy Hour here runs from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and includes a great deal of nigiri and handrolls for $6 or drinks priced from $3 to $7. You won’t find a better quality-to-price ratio in town.

Omakai Sushi is located at 2107 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website

Uchi

Meaning “house” in Japanese, Uchi is the brainchild of James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole. The sushi bar harmoniously blends upscale dining and flawless services, all while serving up signature tastings, sushi, and seasonal omakase with a distinct twist on traditional Japanese cuisine.

Uchi has several branches across the country’s biggest hubs, and luckily we have one right here in Wynwood. The menu, which is updated daily, is packed with various offerings like yasaimono, agemono, makimono, and sushi and sashimi.

Of course, there are also omakase options for those who wish to be gracefully guided through the day’s freshest catch (or harvest for the herbivores).

Uchi stands out from the crowd with its vast offerings of seafood delicacies like melt-in-your-mouth dayboat scallops, big-eye tuna loin, and cornet fish. P.S. Stop by between 5 to 6:30 p.m. to catch some unbeatable Happy Hour specials on a big portion of the menu items.

Uchi is located at 252 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website.
