Where to Eat a Late Lunch in Miami

Geoffrey Anderson

In Miami, nobody eats on schedule. Lunch happens when the day allows it — sometimes that’s noon, sometimes it’s 3:30. The good news? The city’s full of spots built for chowing down during those off-hours. Here are some of our favorites.

Bobe Kitchen & Bakery

Downtown Miami moves fast, but Bobe doesn’t. It’s half café, half bakery, and fully the kind of spot that makes you want to order everything. There’s no rush at this cute Mediterranean spot; people linger with laptops and chat over specialties like chicken schnitzel, pastrami sandwiches, and babka. And when you think you’re done, the pastry displays will tell you otherwise.

Bobe Kitchen & Bakery is located at 236 NE 4th St, Miami, FL 33132. For more information, visit their official website.

Carpaccio

For a late lunch in Bal Harbour, look no further than Carpaccio. Here, a late lunch turns into an art form. The crowd is a fun mix — shoppers still in sunglasses, locals pretending they’re on vacation, and everyone talking with their hands. Order the stuffed artichoke hearts or salmon carpaccio, grab a glass of wine, and enjoy one of the best dining experiences on this side of town. You might just stick around for dinner, too.

Glass and Vine

You don’t eat and leave at Glass and Vine. If you’re here for a late lunch, prepare to settle in – you’ll definitely want to take your time. Especially with menu highlights like Hamachi tartare, watermelon tomato salad, fish and chips sandos, and steak frites. It’s the perfect stop between plans, except you’ll probably skip whatever comes next. And that’s fine because the dulce de leche sundae here is calling your name.

Glass and Vine is located at 2820 McFarlane Rd, Miami, FL 33133. For more information, visit their official website

Hometown Barbecue

By 3 p.m., the crowds at Hometown Barbecue have thinned, but the smokers are still going strong. That’s the best time to visit Hometown Barbecue without having to wait too long. Get a tray of pulled pork or a pile of burnt ends, complement them with some mac and cheese, and dig in. It’s also happy hour around this time, so you can get some discounted specials while you’re at it. Just know that you’re probably going to need a nap afterward.

Hometown Barbecue is located at 1200 NW 22nd St #100, Miami, FL 33142. For more information, visit their official website

Ironside Pizza

Ironside Pizza feels like stumbling into an awesome garden party. The vibe is part industrial, part secret courtyard, and all charm. The pizzas — with no shortage of toppings – come out fast and disappear faster. There are plenty of non-pizza selections as well, so everyone will find something to their liking. Our suggestion: Grab a margherita pie, maybe a cold beer, and let the afternoon stretch as long as it wants.

La Cañita

Chef Michelle Bernstein knows exactly how to bottle Miami’s energy — and at La Cañita, she pours it out in every bite. The Cuban restaurant’s Kendall outpost hums with color and spice, making lunch more of an experience than just a meal. The menu hits every note — smoky, citrusy, a little sweet — and the portions mean you’ll be smiling well into the evening. Some selections to savor: the chicken empanadas, the slow-braised Cuban pork, and the flan.

La Cañita is located at 8405 Mills Dr, Suite 203, Kendall, FL 33183. For more information, visit their official website

Shahs of Kabob

Late lunch in Coral Gables is the perfect excuse for stuffing your face with a plate of steaming kabobs. Shahs of Kabob keeps it simple: fire, spice, and perfectly cooked meat. They also manage to nail the balance of hearty and light; you can finish a full plate and still walk out ready for the rest of your day. Our favorites here include the filet mignon skewer, the shrimp skewer, and the Fesenjoon stew (a sweet-and-tart walnut puree with chicken and pomegranate sauce).

Shahs of Kabob is located at 2624 Ponce de Leon, Coral Gables, FL 33134. For more information, visit their official website
