Welcome to December! It’s hard to believe, but 2020 is almost over. Close out this crazy year on a high note with these tasty specials at South Florida restaurants.
When you think of happy hour, you’re most likely thinking about drinks after work or some other early-evening occasion. Thanks to Amare Ristorante, you can get a head-start at lunchtime. The South of Fifth Italian concept offers a mid-day lunch/happy hour combo from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
The menu features an extensive selection of delectable bites like bruschetta, mini calzones, arancini, meatballs and tuna tartare. These appetizing options are joined by tantalizing mains like linguine, tagliatelle, Norwegian salmon and veal. It’s not a happy hour without drinks, though, and Amare offers $5 beers and $8 wines as well as discounted cocktails, including their negroni and aperol spritz.
Odds are you’ve heard about KYU, the Asian-inspired Wynwood eatery that’s been turning heads since 2016. It’s always busy – so much so that we went ahead and wrote about that impressive feat. One of the reasons for its popularity is its tremendous value, and that’s on full display in its $65 tasting menu.
Yes, you read that correctly: $65 for a multi-course tasting of the best food in town. That’s a steal, and you should make a reservation before KYU itself realizes that. What you can expect during the tasting is an array of seasonal dishes along with crowd favorites.
During our experience, we enjoyed the mouthwatering Korean fried chicken, enormous roasted cauliflower and a few of the restaurant’s signature “snacky snacks” – plus a ton of other delights. You will roll out of here … guaranteed.
Heads up, taco fans: There’s no shortage of places to celebrate the (unofficial) weekly holiday that is Taco Tuesday.
Over at Little River’s La Santa Taqueria, customers can indulge in 3 for 2 deals every Tuesday; visit after 4 p.m. to also take advantage of the eatery’s generous happy hour deals. Seafood lovers will find plenty to love at The Lobster Shack, where fish tacos, seared tuna tacos and lobster tacos are the norm. For a plant-based spin on things, get over to Wynwood’s Love Life Café for jackfruit carnitas tacos and their signature LL tacos, which use lentil walnut “meat.”
Miami Beach’s MILA is giving you a new way to celebrate Sunday Funday. The Lincoln Road “MediterraAsian” rooftop restaurant now serves weekend brunch. Guests can enjoy a $75 prix-fixe extravaganza that includes tapas, salads, maki, eggs and robata selections – and much more.
Expect dishes like crispy brussels sprouts, shrimp cocktail, spicy tuna rolls, branzino tataki, kushiyaki-glazed chicken and beef tenderloin. You can also enhance your experience with a la carte offerings such as shawarma wagyu gyoza, whole Maine lobster and oysters. If you somehow still have room after all that, you can finish off with Japanese cheesecake, miso panna cotta and sorbet.
From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays-Friday, head over to Miami River’s Seaspice for a sunset experience to remember. During this time, the upscale eatery hosts a Sunset Happy Hour where guests can enjoy a bountiful raw bar selection paired with Seaspice signature cocktails and other delicious libations.
Options include stone crabs, shrimp cocktails, oysters, and caviar; diners can sip on $10 wines by the glass or go all out with bottles of premium champagne (starting at $75). Sit back, take in the sounds of the resident DJ, and enjoy the gorgeous view – you deserve it.
