#DishHitList: National Caviar Day and the Latest Arrivals in Miami [July 2023]

Welcome to the July edition of #DishHitList. This month, we’re bringing you the latest on restaurant openings in Miami and highlighting the upcoming National Caviar Day on July 18. Join us as we explore the top spots in town to indulge in this luxurious delicacy, as well as the exciting new arrivals in Miami that you shouldn’t miss this month.

Where to Celebrate National Caviar Day

National Caviar Day is coming up on July 18 and while caviar might not be something you indulge in on the regular, the foodie holiday is definitely a good occasion to hit up the best spots in town spooning up the delicacy.

RED South Beach

The award-winning steakhouse has a thing or two to teach us about caviar. RED Steak House is known for shining the spotlight heavily on any ingredient they use and caviar is no exception. An order of the osetra and beluga caviar comes served in a silver bucket atop ice. Accompanied by a silver tray of blini and a wide variety of seasonal toppings like creme fraiche and minced red onions. We reckon champagne is a must for the occasion and thankfully, RED knows its bubbles.

Zeru Miami

On July 18th the Mexico-born restaurant will be spotlighting its exquisite caviar-centric dish, the Barcelona Bikini. Zeru Miami has earned its spot on the gourmand map with its delicious Mediterranean Basque cuisine inspired by the culinary traditions of Spain’s San Sebastian regions. The Bikini is a quintessential ham and cheese sandwich which has been widely found in Barcelona’s tapas bars from the 1950s onward. At Zeru you will find a healthy dollop of osetra caviar delicately placed atop grilled brioche that is filled with roasted fennel cream cheese and salmon cured in citrus. This is surely a nudge up from the ham and cheese classic, and boy is it worth it.

Zeru Miami is located at 1395 Brickell Ave, Miami, FL 33131. For more information, visit their official website.

The New Amelia’s 1931 by Eileen Andrade has arrived

Chef Eileen Andrade has been on the Miami restaurant scene since 2014 with the opening of the now beloved Finka Table & Tap. Known for her soulful cooking, Cuban heritage, and deep love of Korean cuisine, the chef’s restaurants are always awaited with anticipation in the Miami epicurean scene. Amelia’s 1931 is no exception. An ode to Andrade’s abuela Amelia, the revamped Cuban diner is bigger, sexier, and more sophisticated, and the restaurant boasts an entirely new menu filled with mind-blowing flavors and wonderfully intoxicating craft cocktails.

The new menu is a divine melange of elevated comfort food with Cuban and Asian influences, textures, and flavors. Distinctive appetizers include the escargot with umami butter and Cuban bread points, as well as the kimchi clam chowder. Moving onto the platos fuertes there’s braised oxtail with tamal en cazuela, and the gochujang paella chock-full of clams, shrimp, octopus, and halibut. Craft cocktails helmed by Alex Aportela include sublime sips like the Yass Queen—a vodka-based cocktail with Earl Gray with heavily luscious aromatics like all-spice, freshly grated nutmeg, and orange blossom honey.

While the new space has expanded to hold a total of 127 foodies, reservations are highly recommended.

Amelia’s 1931 is located at 13601 SW 26th St, Miami, FL 33175. For more information, visit their official website.

Mochi Donuts, Live Music, and Karaoke at 1-800- Lucky

Miami’s very first mochi donuts have arrived at the city’s premier Asian food hall, 1-800-Lucky,  and boy are we excited to take a bite of the chewy sweet goodness! Hoseki specializes in Asian-inspired flavors like taro and matcha. The mochi donut pop-up concept is also serving a variety of drinks that will bring you straight back to those sunny childhood days. Their signature floteas are iced teas topped with ice cream flavors like brown sugar boba and coco oreo. After grabbing your donuts and floteas head out to the patio where live music keeps the night full of energy. We’re sure not going to be tired just yet so grabbing a private karaoke room is just the thing to sing to your heart’s content.

1-800-Lucky is located at 143 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website.
