5 Non-Vegetarian Restaurants That Serve Vegetarian Dishes

Miami’s food scene is known for its bold flavors and diverse culinary influences. While many of the city’s restaurants have a reputation for meat and seafood offerings, they also cater to the growing demand for vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Here are five local spots that aren’t exclusively plant-based feature an array of vegetable-forward selections.

Café Americano Brickell

We’ve waxed poetic about Café Americano Brickell’s substantial meat and poultry options (that molten chicken parm is divine), but there are equally flavorful vegetarian-friendly dishes to be had. Among them:

The pesto burrata pizza, the fresh guac and chips, the cauliflower parm, and adobo tofu – to name a few. Stop by for brunch for even more options like Belgium waffles, matcha yogurt parfaits and tres leches French toast. Just be prepared for a nap afterward.

DOYA

One of the most vegetarian-friendly cuisines is Mediterranean, and DOYA doesn’t disappoint. The Wynwood restaurant’s menu is huge and full of selections that range from meat-heavy to meat-omitting.

Those in the latter category include roasted eggplant, red lentil kofte, chargrilled veggies, saganaki, and zucchini and spinach pancake. Besides vegetarian-friendly dishes, the restaurant features a wide range of must-try cocktails; if you don’t have a reservation, your best bet is to sit at the bar.

DOYA is located at 347 NW 24th St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website.

Manjay

When this Dish Miami writer thinks of Haitian food, griot is one of the top things that comes to mind. And while Manjay is home to some mouthwatering griot and other carnivore-leaning specialties, the eatery also caters to vegetarian and vegan palates.

Case in point: the restaurant’s satisfying vegan bowl with your choice of Haitian ratatouille or curry mixed veggies. Other non-meat standouts are the vegan roti, plantain fries and coconut white rice.

Manjay is located at 8300 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33138. For more information, visit their official website.

Tanuki South Beach

Tanuki South Beach is home to some of the city’s best Japanese cuisine. Maki, wok specialties, grilled items … there’s a little bit of everything at this neighborhood hangout.

That includes a bevy of vegan and vegetarian plates, too: Items like the South Beach Veggie roll (Asparagus, takuan, yamagobo, avocado, cucumber) and the vegetable udon noodle are loaded with flavor and are unlike anything you’ve had before. We’re also partial to the maiktake mushroom – a simple dish that’s more than meets the eye. You also can’t go wrong with the crispy Brussels sprouts starter.

Uchi

If you prefer to stay on the mainland for your Japanese cuisine, take a good look at Uchi in Wynwood. Finding a bigger menu in the neighborhood is a tall order, especially one that features so many veggie-forward selections.

Some of the plates that you HAVE to order are the Japanese pumpkin tempura, cauliflower tempura, king trumpet mushroom sushi, avocado sushi and the veggie spicy crunchy roll. Feel like splurging? There’s even a vegetarian omakase offering (which can also be prepared vegan).

Uchi is located at 252 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information, visit their official website.
