Nestled in the heart of Wynwood, Sha stands out as a culinary gem that delights taste buds with tantalizing twists on Mediterranean and Asian flavors. As soon as you take that first bite, you know you’re someplace special.
At this gorgeous establishment, you’ll encounter an array of dishes, large and small, that fuse traditional flavors and modern techniques; expect items that are both familiar and exciting. Torched tuna carpaccio, hamachi crudo, croquettes… These are all selections that you’ve seen on menus before, but the kitchen at Sha elevates them above the competition. Any mix of appetizers will start your meal on a high note, but make sure that mix includes the signature sha bao: steamed buns with crispy shredded beef that are a meal on their own.
Once you’ve made your way out of the apps, the menu opens up into pizzas, pastas, and a number of notable mains. Pizza-wise, you’ll find classics like margherita, diavola, and 4 formaggi (four cheese). They’re ideal for sharing, but you can easily enjoy one yourself without feeling too guilty. For something decadent, the tartufata with truffle is truly divine.
Pasta offerings are not as plentiful as the pizzas, but the few on the menu make a heck of a first impression. The gnocchi with gorgonzola is always a solid choice, but try the carbonara if you have plans at the gym later; it’s a lot, but it’s worth every calorie. The same goes for the wild mushroom and truffle ravioli, which is equally impressive.
Our recommendation: For every two people, get a pasta or pizza and a main. Portions here are substantial across the board, and our choice of a margherita pie and ribeye steak left us satisfied (and with leftovers). When it comes to dessert, the go-to recommendation is the Nutella pizzetta—you can never go wrong with Nutella—but we prefer the butternut squash crème brulee, which is a fun take on the scrumptious dessert. You don’t really see butternut squash and crème brulee together, but the flavors work and work spectacularly. Pro tip: Make sure to get the cookie on the bottom; it’s easy to miss (shout out to our server for letting us know).
Of course, you need drinks to complement all this food, and Sha doesn’t disappoint in that regard, either. A full bar is available with signature sips, or you can order one of your usual libations. Just so you know: In addition to dinner service, Sha is also open for brunch with unique offerings—even more reason to come back.
Our final thoughts? We all know that Wynwood has no shortage of restaurants, with new ones popping up every week. But with its delicious fusion of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, Sha offers a unique and unforgettable dining experience in a crowded space. And that’s hard to find these days.
