Tuesday, August 27: Hiyakawa x DDC Burger Night at Hiyakawa

Get ready for this one, folks—this Tuesday, Hiayakwa, Miami’s premiere omakase destination, is rolling out the first in a series of monthly pop-up events. Kicking off the series is Burger Night, a pop-up by Chef Deborah de Corral (formerly of Tigre). Expect burger delicacies like the Tigre Classic made with beef and bone marrow, sharp cheddar, and balsamic caramelized onions; the Ibaraki with wagyu beef, kimchi mayo, pickles, and togarashi shoestring onions; and the Ebi-Buta made with shrimp and pork belly, yuzu-kosho mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Burgers range between $24-32, and all come with porteñas fries. Make sure to make your reservations since this one is not to be missed! 

Wednesday, August 28: Lunch at the Lobster Shack

This Wednesday, treat yourself to lunch at the Lobster Shack in Miami Beach. This family-owned gem is all about lobster, serving up dishes that are pure seafood galore. Start off with the lobster bisque—creamy, rich, oh so full of flavor, and perfect for the city’s rainy days. The bisque goes mighty well with the spicy lobster roll, served chilled and bursting with a kick of jalapeño slaw and even more jalapeño for an extra punch. No visit is complete without one of their ice-cold craft beers, a lunchtime tradition among regulars.

Saturday, August 31: Dinner at Kojin 2.0

Kojin 2.0, the latest venture by chef duo Pedro and Katherine Mederos, has officially opened its doors in Coral Gables. After the success of their Michelin-recommended pop-up in Little River, this new location offers a vibrant dining experience with seating for 30 and an inviting atmosphere featuring local art. The restaurant boasts three distinct tasting menus, ranging from six to 12-plus courses, with highlights like carpaccio with fried capers and maitake mushrooms with wild rice porridge. A carefully curated à la carte menu ensures there’s something for every palate, with standout dishes like the Kojin Caesar and the decadent brown butter brioche. Beyond the food, the couple is dedicated to sustainability, with plans for a wine club, cooking classes, and a zero-waste operation. Kojin 2.0 is set to become a culinary staple in Coral Gables, offering both casual bites and celebratory feasts.

Sunday, September 1: Miami Spice Brunch at Barsecco

Alas, the second month of Miami Spice has commenced, and this is your chance to start hitting up all those restaurants you haven’t gotten around to in August. Barsecco is one of the rare few offering Miami Spice brunch menus, and whether you’ve already tried their regular brunch or not—the Miami Spice menu is not to be missed! For $35, brunchers get a 3-course meal with a choice of appetizer, main, and dessert. Starters include smoked salmon bagel crostini with whipped cream cheese; as a choice of your main course, you can get the restaurant’s famous barbacoa chilaquiles with shredded beef, sunny side eggs, and queso fresco. Then, for dessert, there’s the luscious pina colada tres leches—coconut tres leches, caramelized pineapple, and crispy coconut flakes. Irresistible. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
