Tuesday, December 16: Lunch Date at Carpaccio

Tuesday lunch at Carpaccio is the kind of start-of-the-week reset that makes you forget you’re technically still on the clock. Tucked inside Bal Harbour Shops and doing its thing since ’94, this is Italian elegance without the stiffness. The terrace is prime real estate on a Tuesday: palms overhead, sunlight bouncing off designer storefronts, a crowd that’s equal parts locals, shoppers, and people who clearly know how to do lunch right.

Start light but lush. Think salmon carpaccio with arugula and parmigiano, or the polpo grigliato salad, loaded with grilled octopus in a tomato-onion dressing. Wood-fired pizzas lean indulgent, like the mare e monti with shrimp and mushrooms, while pastas like the spaghetti al granchio with lump crabmeat bring full coastal energy without weighing you down. Add a crisp glass of white wine, settle in, and don’t be surprised if lunch stretches a little longer than planned.

Wednesday, December 17: Sake and Beats at the Newly Opened Romeo Room

Wednesday nights just got interesting, folks. Tucked upstairs from Babette in Coral Gables, the Romeo Room is the kind of midweek escape that feels like you’re in on a very good secret. You climb the spiral staircase, leave the noise of the week behind, and step into a velvet-draped, mischievous hideaway. Think old-world elegance with speakeasy energy—dim lighting, intimate corners, that kind of thing.

Wednesdays here are all about sake and sound. Curated pours, a DJ setting the mood, and small plates designed for sharing—croquetas de jamón topped with caviar, carved-to-order Ibérico, truffled mac, and other indulgent bites that quietly steal the show. The cocktail program is sharp, the Japanese whisky list runs deep, and the vibe feels refreshing. It’s refined without trying too hard, social without being loud, and exactly where you want to be when Wednesday rolls around.

Romeo Room is located upstairs from Babette at 303 Alcazar Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134. For additional information, visit their official website.

Friday, December 19: Sushi and Drinks at Paperfish Sushi

When the group chat starts buzzing, and no one wants anything boring, Paperfish Sushi is the easy yes. It’s the kind of place 305 locals hit once… then immediately plan the return. This izakaya-style sushi bar blends big umami energy with late-night Tokyo vibes, yet all unmistakably Miami, and we love it. Walk through the red tori gates, and you’re instantly in the mood—cocktails flowing, plates landing fast.

Order everything, share without thinking, repeat. Start with a ceviche sampler for a true taste of the Paperfish magic, then move on to the iconic wagyu dumplings. Beware: they will be gone in seconds. Add a Wasabi Martini or a Suntory whisky-spiked Paper Mule, and suddenly Friday turns into one of those nights. You know the kind.

Sunday, December 21: National Fried Shrimp Day at CJ’s Crab Shack

This Sunday, National Fried Shrimp Day is getting the CJ’s Crab Shack treatment—crispy, buttery, and gloriously hands-on. Forget table manners and fancy plating—this is deep-fried, finger-licking territory. Right on Ocean Drive, CJ’s is going all in on the kind of shrimp celebration that’s meant to be messy and ridiculously satisfying.

Expect baskets of fried popcorn shrimp with marinara sauce, loaded crispy fried shrimp po’ boys with a side of fries, or go big and classic with the fried shrimp entree, paired alongside creamy pasta Alfredo or sweet corn on the cob. Get a cold draft or one of their dangerously good and positively enormous cocktails, and you’re exactly where you should be. Pull up with your beach crew, ditch the forks, and crack into some shrimp.
