Monday, December 2: Lunch at Paperfish Sushi

After a long weekend full of Thanksgiving feasts, the perfect detox is a nice balanced lunch, and we know just the spot. Paperfish Sushi in South Beach has some of the best lunch specials in the area, served from noon to 4 p.m. 

Lunchers can choose between one of their bento boxes or bowls, all packed with fresh seafood and veggies. The Paperfish bento box is our favorite, filled with the restaurant’s signature Paper Tuna roll, torched salmon with truffle oil, pork, and shrimp gyoza, and a crisp house salad with sesame dressing. Those who prefer bowls would be pleasantly delighted by both the chirashi poke bowl filled with tuna, salmon, and hamachi and served with a truffle soy dressing and the crispy shrimp bowl with kanikama and spicy mayo dressing. We recommend pairing the lunch experience with a nice mocktail, like the refreshing dragonfruit mocktail made with ginger beer and lime juice. 

Thursday, December 5: National Comfort Food Day at CJ’s Crab Shack

This Thursday marks National Comfort Food Day and sometimes seafood galore is our ultimate comfort food. Especially when it’s from CJ’s Crab Shack — full of fried, cheesy seafood offerings. We love frequenting this Ocean Drive gem thanks to its prime oceanfront location and consistently friendly service, so come join us for some marine comfort food this Thursday. 

First, we’re starting from the crab dip — a creamy spinach and artichoke dip full of fresh lump crab meat. Then, of course, we have to get the crab cake, a cheesy crab paradise baked in-shell.  As far as the mains go, the Fisherman’s Platter, filled with crispy fried fish, shrimp, scallops, and crab cake is always sure to put smiles on our faces, especially when it’s paired with creamy pasta Alfredo. Whether it’s po boys, Southern fried fish, or creamy seafood pasta — we’re certain everyone can find their ideal comfort food dish. Oh, and if seafood just doesn’t cut it for you, the restaurant also serves up some mean steaks and chicken sandwiches. 

Friday, December 6: Kojin and X.O. Host Exclusive Art Week Culinary Collab

Kojin and Colombia’s X.O. are bringing the heat to Miami Art Week with an exclusive culinary collab for the art-loving epicures out there. Mark your calendars for this Friday, December 6, as Coral Gables’ hottest new dining spot, Kojin, hosts chef Sebastian Marin of Medellin’s famed X.O., a darling of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Prepare for a mind-blowing fusion of bold, Japanese-inspired flair from Kojin’s chef duo, Pedro and Katherine Mederos, as well as X.O.’s refined Colombian elegance. The ten-course menu teases delights like South American spiny lobster, crab cannelloni, turbot with onion sabayon, and venison tartar—all crafted with sustainability and top-tier ingredients in mind. The event is priced at $250 per person, with optional wine pairings from $115. Limited seats are available, so snag your reservation now before it’s too late.

Sunday, December 8: Brunch at El Turco

Locksmith Simit with Salmon

Join us for brunch at El Turco this Sunday. Don’t worry — you don’t have to wake up too early for this one, as the breakfast/brunch options last all the way till 4 p.m. If you want the full deal like us — go straight for the Turkish breakfast tray, priced at $38 and good enough to fill two people; the tray is full of organic eggs cooked to your liking, fresh steak tomatoes and Persian cucumbers, feta, and kashkaval cheese, black and green olives, homemade jams, poğaça, freshly baked bread, and simit, plus two glasses of tea.

Those who wish to order a la carte can opt for the sarıyer börek — thin flaky dough layers, filled with ground beef, paprika, and gooseberry and baked on the tray; or the sweet bal kaymak — creamy milk (top of the milk) with honey and walnuts, served with freshly baked pita bread. And, of course, a cup of frothy Turkish coffee to go with it.
