Tuesday, October 29: Lunch at CJ’s Crab Shack

To start off the week on a good note, let’s shy away from our regular routines and enjoy an oceanside over at CJ’s Crab Shack. Ocean Drive is surely not a go-to lunch destination for most Miamians, but we say, why not? CJ’s Crab Shack has proved itself time and time again as the go-to spot for quality seafood, and stopping by for lunch early on in the week sounds like a fine idea if you ask us. The restaurant has tons of great lunch options, from salads to sammies and heftier platters. If you’re keeping your lunches light, we recommend going with the shrimp and crab salad loaded with fresh lump crab meat and shrimp and served with Shack’s signature herbaceous dressing. Sandwich lovers won’t regret digging into a crispy, crunchy po boy loaded with golden-fried shrimp and served with a side of cole slaw or fries. If you like to keep your lunches nice and filling, then a platter is in order—the fish and shrimp is always a good bet, featuring Southern fried grouper and jumbo shrimp, served with your choice of fries, pasta alfredo, veggies, or parmesan corn on the cob.

Wednesday, October 30: Dia de los Muertos at Kaori with Miss Agave

Join us this Wednesday evening to celebrate Dia de los Muertos at Kaori as Miss Agave takes over the bar. The finest agave spirits from El Tesoro and Mezcal Amaras will be poured all evening long as Miss Agave leads guests through an agave education session. Of course, patrons will also have the chance to indulge in the elevated Asian cuisine at Kaor, from the crispy and luscious wagyu & foie gras gyoza with doubanjiang sauce to the autumnal mushroom-filled spicy udon noodles with five-spice cashews. You won’t regret getting in your reservations early for this one.

Kaori is located at 871 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130. For more information, visit their official website.

Thursday, October 31: Halloween at Paperfish Sushi

Paperfish Sushi never disappoints with its spooky and fun Halloween bashes. This Thursday, head to their Española Way location dressed in your best garb. This year’s costume theme is “Heroes vs. Villains,” so choose your character and get ready to join the battle. Make sure to arrive between 4 and 7 p.m. to also catch the sushi bar’s irresistible happy hour specials. We’re talking bites, rolls, and raw bar specialties for $7.95, with options including crispy rice tuna, hamachi jalapeno rolls, or the restaurant’s signature rocoto ceviche. We bet our bottom dollar you won’t find deals this good in all of South Beach. Drinks are priced at $6.95 with plenty of smooth sips to choose from, including imported beers, a variety of white and red wines, rose, and even sake. Add an extra $1 and find yourself sipping on zingy cocktails like the passionfruit martini or whiskey sour.

Friday, November 1: Dinner at Michelin Bib Gourmand-Recommended El Turco

Let’s get luxurious this Friday without breaking the bank. Every year, the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand highlights restaurants that offer exquisite and affordable culinary experiences. Lucky for us, El Turco has had this title for several years in a row now, meaning we can have authentic and delicious Turkish food on the regular. For a taste of their best offerings, we recommend getting the kisir to start—an utmost refreshing meze of steamed bulgur rice mixed with sautéed onions, tomato paste, a plethora of fresh aromatic herbs, pomegranate sauce, and olive oil. Then move on to the homemade beef manti topped with caramelized tomato sauce and garlicky yogurt sauce, as well as the kavurma, which is the most tender braised beef and shallots you’ll ever have. A proper finish to this Michelin-level meal is dessert, so please don’t skip on an order of the flaky pistachio baklava or the sweet and cheesy kunefe.
