This Week in Miami: September 7-13

Angelina Kurganska

Each week, we round up what’s worth your time right now—from new menus and pop-up moments to festivals, openings, and low-key excuses to go out on a weeknight. Consider this your curated snapshot of the city as it moves through the week ahead: where to eat, what to drink, and what’s quietly (or loudly) happening around town.

Ongoing This Week

September Self-Care at Hürrem Hammam

If your idea of self-care involves more than a quick facial and a cup of coffee, Hürrem Hammam Wellness & Spa is the place to disappear for a few hours. This month, the Turkish hammam is celebrating Self-Care Month with a chance to slow down and settle into its centuries-old Ottoman bathing traditions. The Day Pass starts at $85 Monday through Thursday and includes access to the grand hammam, herbal sauna, steam room, Himalayan salt room, Arctic igloo, hydromassage pool, and relaxation areas, plus a robe, peshtemal, and slippers. For the full experience, book the Hammam Ritual Kese & Bubble ($145), which combines traditional full-body exfoliation with a relaxing foam massage. Add the Coffee & Honey Ritual if you really want to make a day of it.

Hürrem Hammam Wellness & Spa is located at 14652 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami, FL 33181 (North Miami). For more information, visit their official website.

New Cocktail Menu at Mama Tried

Mama Tried is giving its cocktail menu a refresh this September, and this time, the drinks are inspired less by elaborate backstories and more by what Miami actually wants to drink. Curated by new bar manager Robert Lang, the lineup leans into familiar flavors with a few unexpected twists, from the Mama’s Cosmo with Grey Goose Le Citron, St-Germain, guava, and lime to the No Regrets swizzle, blending rum, pineapple, mint, and Caribbean spices. The Amaretto Sour gets an upgrade with salted hazelnut syrup, while the Colada takes inspiration from Miami’s classic ventanita coffee rather than the tropical drink you might expect. Of course, the Espresso Martini stays put—because some classics simply aren’t going anywhere.

Mama Tried is located at 207 NE 1st St., Miami, FL 33132 (Downtown), 786-803-8087. For more information, visit their official website.

Zoko Collective Is Now Open

Miami just got a new kind of night-out destination. Zoko Collective, a 32,000-square-foot culinary and cultural space just west of Wynwood, is officially open and bringing several food, drink, and entertainment concepts together under one roof. Inspired by the Basque txoko tradition of gathering around food and conversation, Zoko currently houses FRA Pizza, Lovecat, and Zoko Tapas, with more concepts on the way. The draw is that you can mix and match across the different menus, ordering everything through the same waiter. Beyond food and drinks, Zoko will host night markets, spirit tastings, wellness sessions, and live programming. Open Thursday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., it’s designed less like a restaurant and more like a place to hang for the whole night.

Zoko Collective is located at 728 NW 29th St., Miami, FL 33127 (Allapattah), 305-803-5146. For more information, visit their official website.

Happy Hour at Barceloneta

After Labor Day weekend, Barceloneta in Sunset Harbour is a useful place to clock out and slide back into vacation mode for a little longer. From 4:30–7 p.m., settle in at the bar or grab a table outside and sip your way through sangria, Spanish wines, beer, and cocktails while snacking on tapas. Think mussels fritters, beef Milanesa sandwiches, black squid ink and pork meatballs, and housemade skin potato chips, all at an easygoing price. House cocktails, sangria, and wine run from $5–10, which makes this a solid move for a post-work hang when you’re not quite ready to fully commit to the new week yet.

Barceloneta is located at 1400 20th St., Miami Beach, FL 33139 (Sunset Harbour), 305-538-9299. For more information, visit their official website.

Meet Dr. Julio Gallo at the biostation

If a little September self-care is on your agenda, there’s a new name to know in Midtown. Dr. Julio Gallo, a board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon with more than 25 years of experience specializing in facial surgery, is offering both surgical and non-surgical treatments at the biostation. Think facelifts, mini-facelifts, rhinoplasty, and blepharoplasty alongside Botox, fillers, Skinvive, Kybella, and microneedling. We especially like the setup because you can get a surgeon’s perspective on whether you actually need a procedure—or if a less invasive option will do the trick.

Gallo MD is located at the biostation, 115 NE 32nd St., Suite 102-A, Miami, FL 33137 (Midtown), 305-783-6780. For more information, visit their official website.

Come Undone: Cards After Dark

Looking for an excuse to skip the usual bar chatter? Monterrey Bar is getting a little spicy Wednesday night with Cards After Dark, a conversation game inspired by Eddie Huang’s Come Undone. Expect questions that go beyond “so, what do you do?” as you sip your way through prompts about dating, sex, relationships, and the things you probably wouldn’t bring up at happy hour. Bring your friends, bring your flirt game, or just bring yourself and see what comes up. Either way, leave the small talk at home. The event runs Wednesday, September 9, from 6 p.m. until late.

Monterrey Bar is located at 40 Island Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139 (South Beach). For more information, visit their official website.

Pilathon Pilates at The Miami Beach EDITION

Need a midweek reset? Pilathon founder Emily Bench is bringing her signature Pilates mat class to Basement Club at The Miami Beach EDITION this Wednesday from 6:30–7:30 p.m. The session blends classical Pilates technique with extra heat, focusing on controlled movement, strength, lengthening, and flow. Basically, come ready to move, sweat, and leave feeling like you’ve got your life together. RSVP through Eventbrite.

Try a High-Tech Recovery Session at Evolve Longevity

Spa day feeling a little too low-tech? Evolve Longevity in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood is taking recovery into the future with a lineup of treatments that go way beyond the usual massage. One to check out: its red light therapy sessions, which combine medical-grade red and near-infrared light with a Power Plate vibration session. The idea is to support circulation, lymphatic flow, and cellular energy while you stand there getting your futuristic glow on. And if you really want to geek out on your recovery, the physician-led clinic also offers hyperbaric oxygen, shockwave therapy, lymphatic drainage, and EBOO. Basically, it’s where Miami’s wellness crowd goes when a regular spa afternoon just isn’t cutting it.

Salsa & Sip Returns to Hoy Como Ayer

Thursday nights are getting their salsa back at Hoy Como Ayer, where the beloved Calle Ocho institution is bringing back Salsa & Sip for a second season. Kicking off September 10, the weekly series pairs a one-hour, all-levels salsa class with a cocktail and Cuban-inspired bites, including croquetas, crispy yuca, and mariquitas. No partner or previous salsa experience is required, so beginners are welcome. Admission is $25 and includes the class, one drink, and snacks. The series runs every Thursday through November 19, giving you plenty of chances to swap your usual Thursday plans for a little dancing in Little Havana.

Hoy Como Ayer is located at 2212 SW 8th St., Miami, FL 33135 (Little Havana). For more information, visit their official website.

Rosh Hashanah at LT Steak & Seafood

Let someone else handle the brisket this Rosh Hashanah. At LT Steak & Seafood inside The Betsy, Chef Laurent Tourondel is serving a few holiday favorites this September 11 and 12, making it easy to celebrate without spending the day in the kitchen. The lineup includes matzo ball soup with free-range chicken, fresh dill, carrots, and celery, followed by braised brisket with potato kugel, baby carrots, and turnips. For something sweet, caramelized apple with wildflower honey comes with vanilla gelato and toasted walnuts. And because no holiday table is complete without challah, The Betsy continues its tradition of offering freshly baked loaves every Friday, complimentary to guests and visitors while supplies last. Basically, all the cozy Rosh Hashanah energy, minus the cooking marathon.

LT Steak & Seafood is located at 1440 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach, FL 33139 (South Beach), 305-673-0044. For more information, visit their official website.
