Tuesday, September 9: Miami Spice Lunch at Loretta and the Butcher
We’re starting the week at our staple Argentine spot for their Miami Spice lunch menu. The annual Miami foodie deals run through the end of the month, so we’re making the rounds to hit favorite eateries in town.
Known for impeccable service and mouthwatering Argentine barbecue, Loretta and the Butcher brings the same enthusiasm to its $35 Miami Spice lunch menu. Start with a handmade beef empanada, or, for something lighter, creamy burrata paired with prosciutto, fresh tomatoes, and arugula. For entrees, enjoy a 10-ounce bife de chorizo—grilled Argentine sirloin steak topped with roasted garlic butter and served with French fries, mashed potatoes, or salad. We’re also eyeing the butcher burger—a premium beef patty with aromatic truffle aioli, grilled onions, bacon, and fries. For dessert, stick with a timeless classic—decadent flan de caramelo topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of dulce de leche.
Wednesday, September 10: seafood lunch at Costa Med
If you’re craving seafood and have an extra 30 minutes to drive to Key Biscayne, Costa Med is a quaint bistro whose history and menu speak volumes. The menu leans Mediterranean-inspired with bright sparks of South Florida influence, and we can’t get enough of it.
For a sumptuous, seafood-driven lunch, we keep it classic. The tender Greek-style octopus is grilled to perfection and melts in your mouth. If you’re sharing, don’t skip the fresh corvina ceviche, served with homemade leche de tigre and tostones. For mains, it’s either the squid ink risotto or the freshly grilled catch of the day—either is a reliable choice. Before you leave, ask about the daily desserts; we have a sweet spot for the key lime pie.
Friday, September 12: Dinner at the Newly Opened Da Angelino Cucina Italiana
Coconut Grove just welcomed a fresh taste of Italy with the debut of Da Angelino Cucina Italiana at CocoWalk. A collaboration between Graspa Group (behind Osteria and Salumeria 104) and the Michelin-starred Ariete Hospitality Group, the restaurant blends timeless tradition with modern flair. Florence-born host Angelin Kometa will be at the helm, bringing his signature warmth to a dining room dressed in terra cotta and sage, with a leafy patio made for lingering.
On the menu: house-made pastas like cacio e pepe spun tableside and seafood-forward linguine, alongside hearty plates such as brasato al Barolo and a showstopping cotoletta alla Milanese that’s already destined to be a signature. Antipasti, charcuterie boards, and shareable ribeyes round out the offerings, all paired with a thoughtful wine list and classic-meets-modern cocktails. Elegant but never stiff, Da Angelino promises soulful Italian dining with a Grove spirit.
Da Angelino Cucina Italiana is located at 3015 Grand Ave #120, Coconut Grove, FL 33133. For more information, visit their official website.
Saturday, September 13: Oysters at the Lobster Shack
September traditionally marks the start of oyster season, and we’re planning a trip to the Lobster Shack, where fresh East Coast oysters are served for $2.75 each. While the shack supplies Miami foodies with fresh mollusks year-round, we take pleasure in the tradition of starting September with oysters and a cold glass of bubbles.
The Lobster Shack serves much more than oysters and lobster rolls—the menu is packed with delights you wouldn’t necessarily expect at a laid-back, family-run spot. The chilled lobster cocktail and the seared tuna with seaweed salad are apps we like to indulge in at a fraction of the price at neighboring seafood spots. If you’re very hungry, choose one of the loaded entrees, which come with your choice of side, like lobster bisque or the shack’s signature jalapeño cole slaw. The live Maine lobster combo is worth the splurge; it includes lobster, in-shell baked crab cakes, jumbo garlic shrimp, baked oysters, and oysters Rockefeller. Feast well!
