Where to Eat During Miami Art Week + Art Basel [2023]

Miami Art Week is here, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorite spots to keep you fed during the festivities. Whether you’re attending the main Art Basel event on South Beach or other Miami Art Week events on the mainland and beyond, you should stop by these eateries to fuel up.

Casa Isola

Casa Isola Osteria
Casa Isola is an ambient and slightly romantic osteria located on the sunset harbor in Miami Beach. Started by five-time nominated James Beard Award nominee Jose Mendin and former Lucali chef Santo Agnello, the osteria keeps up the Italian trope to a fine-point-finish.

Just a short drive from the Miami Beach main event, Casa Isola is close enough to a lot of the Miami Art Week action without being in the heart of it. If you need a breather, escape to Casa Isola for dinner and enjoy Italian delights like rigatoni alla vodka, arancini, chicken parm, and so much more—you’re going to need all these delicious carbs to get you through the weekend. Besides traditional Italian fare, expect to find dishes that are infused with Asian flavors like Italian ramen, crab spaghettini, and udon carbonara.

Ironside Pizza

If you want a nice quiet meal amidst all the Art Week happenings, look no further than Ironside Pizza, which is home to some of the best pizzas in Miami. The secluded eatery features classic pies, gourmet pizzas, white pizzas, calzones… Pizza lovers are in heaven here. If you don’t feel like pizza, Ironside serves up some tasty paninis that are just as impressive. The menu is large, so you can visit all week long and experience something new each time.

Lobster Shack

Art Basel guests seeking something quick and affordable should stop by Lobster Shack’s Lincoln Road location. It’s just a few minutes from the show, and you can be in and out in under 30 minutes. The restaurant’s claim to fame is its signature lobster served chilled or warm, but there’s plenty of other seafood to go around. And unlike the other places on Lincoln Road, this is no tourist trap – it’s the real deal.

Paperfish Sushi

In the mood for something light? Take a walk over to Española Way and grab a seat at Paperfish Sushi. The Nikkei restaurant masterfully fuses Peruvian and Japanese influences, creating some spectacular dishes in the process. Signature nigiri and maki are always good choices, especially the salmon aburi (torched salmon) and ebi katsu (shrimp katsu). Larger plates like miso black cod and crispy truffle fried rice are also available, but we prefer quicker bites to maximize our time at all the festivities. 

RED South Beach

When you have some downtime at the Miami Beach Convention Center, hop in an Uber and make your way down to RED South Beach. The premier SoFi steakhouse is home to an extensive list of exquisite meats like c.a.b. porterhouse, ribeye, and tomahawks. 

While steak is the restaurant’s bread and butter, the seafood and pastas here are also among the neighborhood’s best. No matter what you order, it’s going to be great. Take a peek at the wine list while you’re at it; it’s one of the larger lists in town, and it’s packed with cool selections.

Sha

Wynwood has its fair share of Basel week activities, so make sure you carb up at Sha beforehand. The Mediterranean restaurant offers a tantalizing array of pastas, pizzas, and shareable bites such as hamachi crudo, duck dumplings, and bao buns; it’s an ideal spot for a big group. We particularly like that it’s off the beaten path, so when you need a break from the insane crowds, come here for exceptional food and a breath of fresh air. If you’re more the early type, swing by for Sunday brunch before or after some “Baseling.”
