Where to Eat in Miami This Week [Feb 20-26]

Wednesday at Phuc Yea

What better way to celebrate Miami Food week than with a charity dinner featuring none other than some of the best of Miami’s chefs? This Wednesday you’ll find us at the Phuc Yea Eat, Drink, Take Action charity dinner benefiting The Humans Who Feed Us. At 7 p.m. start the night off with canapes and cocktails followed by a multi-course dinner with each course specially curated by one of the city’s favorite chefs. Cesar Zapata of Phuc Yea, Jose Mendin of Casa Isola and Pubbelly Sushi, Jon Nguyen of Tran An, Cleophus Hethington from Zak the Baker, and Diego Oka from La Mar are all bringing out the heat for this one-of-a-kind epicurean evening. To round off the night, expect an exuberant beverage pairing auction and a live DJ set.

The Humans Who Feed Us is a national project of Justice for Migrant Women that focuses on humanizing workers across the food supply chain; showing the interdependence among businesses, the people they employ, and consumers; and fostering a sense of belonging for these remarkable workers. Friday at The Lobster Shack

If you haven’t guessed already, we are loyal customers at The Lobster Shack. Maine lobster, fresh seafood specialties, a stellar bar, and the beach by our side. Best of all — the prices don’t require any penny-pinching. The Lobster Shack has it all folks, and a family-friendly atmosphere to boot. So if you haven’t already, we do urge you to save a day and make it out to The Shack. 

The menu here is extensive and on each visit, we pledge to try something new outside of the classic (and highly addictive) lobster rolls. This week our eyes are set on the lobster cocktail — but where else could we try hefty chilled lobster chunks in a house-made cocktail sauce? Then there’s the surf n’ turf burger — a monstrosity of a burger (we say this most lovingly), loaded with lobster, bacon, cheese, and the shack’s iconic house sauce. Quite frankly, whatever you get here it’s bound to be bomb and will keep you coming back by the week. 

Saturday at Costa Med

This Saturday we’re keeping it nice and slow with a leisurely drive out to Key Biscayne and a visit to the chic neighborhood bistro — Costa Med. As you may have guessed this restaurant specializes in Mediterranean cuisine and after a meal here you’re bound to leave the establishment with a smile from the exquisite cuisine yet a delightful lightness to your step.

This week we’re craving fresh seafood and Costa Med never ceases to amaze with their catch of the day. Whatever fish you’ll find on your plate this day or that, expect it to be grilled to perfection and accompanied by a light and crisp salad like the watermelon salad. Looking for something a little more hearty? You can also choose one of the bistro’s scrumptious classic sides, like the parmesan risotto or truffle fries. Oh, and the name is Costa Med Bistro + Wine for a reason. Don’t be shy to ask for the ideal wine pairing to go with your catch. 

Sunday at Riviera Focacceria

Did you know that this Sunday is National Pistachio Day? Pistachios are always a real treat and once in a while, we like to indulge in some of the best pistachio creations the city has to offer. That’s why this Sunday you’ll most likely find us lounging on the patio at Riviera Focacceria, a cup of pistachio mousse in hand. 

The Ligurian eatery hosts some of the best no-frills high-delish Italian food in Miami and pistachios make guests appearances in more than one of their menu items. Take for example the carpaccio di rapa — thinly sliced roasted red beets, goat cheese, pistachios, and microgreens. Yum. Or perhaps the hale and hearty Savona salad featuring quinoa, chickpeas, beets, tomatoes, arugula, and yes, toasted pistachios. You can have yourself a nice little pistachio feast at Riviera Focacceria, but no matter what, don’t skip the luscious bronte pistachio mousse and a cup of espresso at the end of your meal. 

Update: Riviera Focacceria Italiana is permanently closed.
