Where to Eat in Miami This Week [Jan 2-8]

Tuesday at Costa Med

Key Biscayne’s Costa Med Bistro and its Mediterranean fare are simply irresistible. For those wishing to start the year off with something chic and downright scrumptious, we can’t recommend the bistro enough. Whether it’s for lunch or dinner, there’s no need to think twice before making the 15-minute drive out of Miami. The menu is rich with European delicacies like the classic French onion soup gratin, foie gras vol-au-vent, and buttery escargots á la Bourguignonne. We’ll probably find all of these on our dinner table. After all, it’s our first outing in 2023 so we better make it count. Of the more substantial offerings there’s the filet mignon and veal chops fresh off the grill, catch of the day prepared to your liking, or the Greek-style Branzino; all served with a side of your choice like the tantalizing parmesan risotto or rosemary roasted potatoes. The staff treats you like family at this neighborhood gem and trust, they suggest pairings of nothing but the best sips. Cheers to a delectable year ahead! 

Wednesday at Casa Isola

Have you heard the latest news on the block? Our favorite casual Italian eatery, Casa Isola, is back in business! While we have been greatly enjoying their sister restaurant Patio Isola over on Biscayne Boulevard, we couldn’t wait for Casa Isola to return either. What does one get at the Miami Beach branch after the hiatus? Why nothing but the most delicious classics, of course! We’ll be starting off with the bread service — irresistible. Moving on to the burrata panzanella — Florida tomatoes, roasted bell peppers, olive agrodolce, and rustic bread, it’s as exquisite as it is timeless. Next, on to the rigatoni alla vodka. True, this city favorite is present at both locations. Yet, somehow it’s always an extra pleasure to indulge in it once again where you’ve tried it for the very first time! Finally, for dessert, the establishment’s infamous tiramisu is not to be skipped under no circumstance. 

Saturday at the Wagyu Bar

The first brunch of 2023, let’s go! You know we had to start off with nothing but the best for our favorite meal. But did you know that the Wagyu Bar, Miami’s casual steakhouse, does a stellar brunch? The selections are short and sweet, available every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On the menu find appetite-tingling delicacies like the A5 Wagyu Katsu Sando —  breaded and fried A5 sirloin steak, served between two loaves of Japanese bread with arugula and tonkatsu sauce; steak and eggs that are just impossible to pass up, served with your choice of steak; and in the case that your feeling more like a pescatarian this day or that — a divine rendition of the classic bagel & lox, a plain bagel with special cream cheese, pickled red onion, capers, tomato and a lot of Ora King Smoked Salmon. Naturally, mimosas and champagne gracefully complete the meal. 

Sunday at the Lobster Shack

In only the best of traditions, every year must start with a seafood feast. Yes or yes? Something familiar and heartwarming always hits the spot which is why we’ll be going over to Miami Beach for a meal at the Lobster Shack. The seafood eatery is the perfect combination of baller seafood, in a casual family-friendly atmosphere. To start the year off on the right foot, we’ll be getting the East coast oysters on the half shell. Next, let’s go all in with one of the Shack’s entrees. At this seafood eatery, live lobster is flown in daily from Maine, sold by the pound, and comes served with clam chowder, lobster bisque, salad, or cole slaw. Other entrees include the snow crab dinner, fish in a bag, and the king crab dinner. All totally worth every penny.
