When we think of dining out, we usually think of a full-fledged meal. But what if we just want something light to nibble on? The next time you’re looking for a small dish or two, make your way to these fun spots.
Miami Beach’s Kosushi is an experience. At this South of Fifth hotspot, you’ll find an extensive list of nigiri, sashimi and other Japanese fare to be had. While we always suggest the chef’s tasting/omakase at these types of places, you can order everything a la carte. Guests looking to enjoy a few plates should consider the crispy rice tuna, salmon belly tartare, and wagyu gyoza. You can’t go wrong with any sushi either.
Kosushi is located at 801 South Pointe Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For more information, visit their official website.
La Giulietta in Ironside offers the best of both worlds. If you just want some coffee (or wine) and some light bites, you can do that. And if you want a feast, this internationally inspired bistro has you covered, too. Those who fall into the former category will find croissants, acai bowls, dips, and an assortment of other casual and small bites to enjoy. We’re partial to the ceviche and tuna pizza.
La Giulietta is located at 7580 NE 4th Court, Miami, FL 33138. For more information, visit their official Instagram.
Spanish delights abound at Downtown’s NIU Kitchen. The menu is packed with small bites like cold tomato soup, branzino tartare, octopus, and meats, and cheese galore. Stop by for a small dish (or three) and take your time drinking your way through the fantastic wine list full of rare finds. Cheers!
NIU Kitchen is located at 104 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33132. For more information, visit their official website.
Pubbelly Sushi is another great spot with a menu that’s designed for sharing (aka multiple small plates). The Japanese- and Latin-inspired restaurant boasts no shortage of snacks; there’s everything from edamame, salt, and pepper squid, and tuna tartare to miso black cod, crispy salmon rolls, and buffalo chicken buns. Consider ordering two-to-three dishes per person for maximum satiety.
Pubbelly Sushi has multiple locations throughout Miami. For more information, visit their official website.
Midtown Miami’s Thatch is the go-to for all things plant-based. This beloved vegan-friendly spot will impress your taste buds with a bevy of tantalizing dishes like crispy cauliflower, fresh shattered potatos, pad Thai, and banana almond pancakes. All of that might sound like it’s heavy but it’s not—they’re all on the lighter side, and you won’t hate yourself afterward.
Thatch is located at 3255 NE 1st Avenue, Miami, FL 33137. For more information, visit their official website.
For small plates with a view, head over to Tigre in MiMo. The waterfront eatery is known for its appetizing apps and aperitifs. Expect to find dishes like red prawn tiradito, cold roasted beets, burrata, and veal sweetbreads to go with your wine-based cocktail (of which there are many). Just try to get there early—parking tends to fill up fast.
Tigre is located at 620 NE 78th Street, Miami, FL 33138. For more information, visit their official website.
The best part about The Doral Yard is the variety. At this neighborhood hangout, you aren’t limited to just one type of food—there’s a robust roster of vendors ready to serve you tasty food. Those seeking smaller snacks can nosh on dumplings at Yip or enjoy some sancocho over at Un Pollo. Be sure to check out Barbakoa by Finka, one of the newer spots here. The wok-fired okra and Korean BBQ grilled octopus make for some satisfying small plates.
The Doral Yard is located at 8455 NW 53rd Street, Suite 106, Doral, FL 33166. For more information, visit their official website.
Nothing screams “light bites” like sushi, and Wabi Sabi has a long list of delicious options. The MiMo favorite offers it all: maki, nigiri, sashimi, and temaki. A la carte selections can add up fast, so we suggest doing one of the tastings for the best value. Even though 12-14 pieces of fish sounds like a lot—and it is—you won’t be overly full. You’ll feel just right.
Wabi Sabi is located at 851 NE 79th Street, Miami, FL 33138. For more information, visit their official website.
