National Filet Mignon Day at Costa Med
National Filet Mignon Day lands on Thursday, August 13, making it a pretty good excuse to head to Key Biscayne for a proper steak dinner at Costa Med. The Mediterranean-inspired bistro’s petit filet is a 6-ounce, center-cut Angus beef filet mignon—compact enough to leave room for the rest of the table, but still the kind of main that deserves a little attention. Pair it with one of the restaurant’s more indulgent sides, like macaroni and cheese, potato fondant with smoked Gouda and chives, or mascarpone soft polenta. For something lighter, there’s charred broccolini with lemon, anchovies, and cream, or cauliflower with capers and a lemon-herb dressing. Your Margarita Era Starts at Bakan
This Thursday, skip the standard happy hour and learn how to make the margaritas you’re drinking. Bakan is bringing back Agave Social, its monthly margarita-making class in Wynwood. The hands-on experience takes guests through the history and traditions of tequila and mezcal with guided tastings, then lets everyone get behind the bar to shake up two signature margaritas of their own. Passed bites from the kitchen keep pace with the pours. At eight seats and $55 per person, it’s a cocktail class, a dinner date, and a very good excuse to get the group together all in one. National Relaxation Day Calls for a Miami Beach Daycation
National Relaxation Day lands on August 15, and we’re taking that as permission to cancel absolutely everything. The National Hotel Miami Beach makes a strong case for a full day of doing nothing, starting with its 205-foot infinity-edge pool and ending at the spa. Pool day passes start at around $55 and come with a lounge chair, umbrella, towels, and poolside service, while private cabanas are available if you’re ready to take your relaxation to another level.
