Thursday, November 21: Dinner at Gao

What to Do in Miami This Week [Nov 18-24] - Gao Miami Beach, Ironside Pizza, Midorie Miami, Queen Miami Beach, weekly - November 2024

Gao, open daily for dinner, has quickly become a beloved fixture in the Miami Beach dining scene since it first opened its doors a few months back. It’s no surprise the Vietnamese spot has become a go-to in our dinner rotation. The dim lighting and spot-on music set a vibe that’s perfect for unwinding after a long day.

Kicking things off with appetizers, we can’t resist ordering dim sum like the shiitake mushroom gyoza, crispy bean curd gold shrimp, and the incredible wagyu beef pho “Gao” sum. As the weather cools down, the Saigonese tamarind soup—loaded with shrimp, organic chicken, and sweet-tart pineapple, is a must-try. And let’s not forget the colossal shrimp vandaloo, a unique spin on the classic Goan curry, which leaves us daydreaming about its aromatic blend long after the meal is over.

Friday, November 22: Lunch at Ironside Pizza

What to Do in Miami This Week [Nov 18-24] - Gao Miami Beach, Ironside Pizza, Midorie Miami, Queen Miami Beach, weekly - November 2024

One of our favorite lunchtime spots in Miami’s Upper East Side is a quaint Neapolitan gem—Ironside Pizza. We love grabbing a spot in their garden and getting some well-balanced Mediterranean fair. Ironside Pizza is one of the only restaurants in Miami where you can find farinata—a gluten-free unleavened chickpea flatbread that comes topped with fresh ricotta, prosciutto di parma, and calamata olives. If you’re looking for a satisfying lunch that won’t put you straight to sleep after—this is it, folks.

Sometimes we do love pairing the farinata with a secondi piatta for a bit of extra protein, in which case the salmone con verdure—seared salmon served with roasted seasonal veggies is just what we need. Finishing the experience with a creamy affogato al caffe is just what the doctor prescribed and rounds off the ideal Friday afternoon lunch.
